Please be aware that the Core Assets Independent Support Programme ended on the 31st July 2018. Independent Support was always intended to be a time limited resource, supporting the transition from statements to EHCPs. From August 2018 onwards, parents, children and young people will continue to be able to access information, advice and support on statutory assessment and annual reviews from your local SEND IASS.
Core Assets Children’s Services was commissioned by the Council for Disabled Children to deliver Independent Support to young people and their families in partnership with Parent Partnership Services, local authorities, and parent and carer forums.
The Children and Families Act 2014 has introduced measures on special education needs and disabilities (SEN/D). These will be used to reform the SEN/D system. Under the act, local authorities have a duty to introduce the new Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans and publicise a Local Offer of the services and activities that are available to parents, carers and young people.
